Arts & Crafts armchair in wicker and rattan attributed to Dryad & Co, UK, circa 1920.

Superb antique wicker and rattan armchair, featuring a remarkable and highly decorative silhouette. Its large rounded high back, enveloping shape, deep seat, and rolled armrests give it a sculptural appearance typical of English Arts & Crafts furniture from the early 20th century. This armchair shows a strong formal correspondence with referenced models such as Dryad & Co, a famous British company specialising in wicker, rattan, and art basketry. Notably, it features circular armrests, a high shell back, curved lines, and meticulous weaving, characteristics of this type of English production from the 1920s. Overall good condition considering its age. The armchair retains a beautiful presence and a lovely patina of use. There are normal signs of wear: varnish wear, old marks, rubbing, slight colour variations, as well as some visible losses and fragilities on certain rattan parts, particularly at the feet, the wrappings, and the lower sections. The seat and structure are in very good condition: the armchair is stable, solid, and can be sat on without issue. The main weaving of the seat and back is well preserved, with a nice overall hold.
