Very rare Izmir Bench by Aldo Cibic for Standard Milano Italy 1992

Very rare Izmir bench, designed by the Italian architect and designer Aldo Cibic in 1992 for Standard Milano Italy. 'Standard' was his first self-produced and independent collection, made in very small numbers. The bench has a great provenance: it comes from the well known and influential interior and design photographer Tom Vack. The authenticity report by Aldo Cibic himself is with it, which also declares it was owned by Tom Vack. Aldo Cibic was working with Ettore Sottsass from 1977 and was one of the founding members of the Memphis Group. The Memphis experience led Cibic to assume an experimental approach as his norm. Towards the end of the 1980s, Aldo began to reflect on a more personal concept of creativity, which inspired the launch of his first independent project. In line with his idea of a more human, less heroic form of design. This bench clearly reflects that idea. It is made of off-white stained ash wood and has a strong architectural appearance. Highly collectible piece. The bench is in very good original condition. Only little traces of wear.
