Here is a very beautiful set consisting of 12 ceramic knife rests with a lovely emerald green glaze enhanced by a golden trim. Their design, simple and elegant, combining straight lines and curves, is characteristic of the Art Deco style. They do not have any markings (just a small golden line underneath for some) and could have come from several manufacturers, such as St Clément, Verceram, etc., as this emerald green colour accented with gold was highly favoured in the 1930s to 1950s. However, these are from the Poët-Laval factory. Indeed, I found a larger set with exactly the same knife rests, the underside of which still had a label mentioning "Céramique d’Art, Poët Laval (Drome)". And why are knife rests coming back into fashion Because we are once again appreciating beautiful tablecloths on our tables, making them an essential accessory to avoid soiling a lovely tablecloth too quickly! Moreover, they are very aesthetic, as they are often beautifully crafted, adding charm to a lovely table. These knife rests are in very good condition for their age, with no cracks or chips, none have been repaired, and the gilding is still well-preserved, although it is obviously worn in places (to maintain it, wash these knife rests gently by hand, without scrubbing with a scouring sponge). There are just two tiny chips on the glaze on two of them. They measure 11.5 cm in length, 3 cm in width, and 2 cm in height.
