White opaline portable lamp

A unique piece full of history, I created this white opaline portable lamp with glassware from an old scientific laboratory. Its delicate opaline glass lampshade, marked "modèle déposé", testifies to its authenticity and its initial use in demanding environments, where opaline was favored for its ability to diffuse a soft and homogeneous light. A light fixture between tradition and modernity used from the end of the 19th century in laboratories, hospitals and workshops, opaline glass was sought after for its robustness and its ability to filter light without altering it. Unlike classic white glass, opaline is obtained by adding metal oxides, giving it this milky finish and homogeneous diffusion. This model, probably from the 1930s-1950s, was found and then reinterpreted as a portable lamp, combining industrial heritage and modernity thanks to its copper assembly and braided textile cable.
