Very beautiful set by the famous ceramist Mithé Espelt (1923-2020). Mirror with a cream-glazed crackled ceramic frame enhanced with gilding and inlaid with glass paste forming two stylized pink and green flowers. "Arts Décoratifs" model with original glass, green felt back (worn) and measuring 30x27 cm. It is accompanied by a square box measuring 13.5 x 13.5 in cream-glazed stamped earthenware, with floral decoration with crackled gold edging and crystallized glass. Both are in excellent condition as evidenced by the photos. Only a firing defect visible in the last photo under the lid of the box should be noted, but this is not a chip but a firing defect. No chips or cracks, either on the mirror or on the box. Marie-Thérèse Espelt (alias Mithé Espelt, 1923-2020) is one of the dominant figures in 20th-century French ceramics. Based in the south of France, her grandfather introduced her to the upper echelons of the artistic and intellectual world, where she rubbed shoulders with Jean Hugo, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Christian Bérard, and many others. Mithé exhibited at the Galerie La Roue in Vallauris alongside the greatest ceramists of the time. Each piece created is handmade, reflecting her commitment to quality and her passion for artistic expression. If you need additional photos, please ask me.
