This bedside table comes from the prestigious Lacoste estate, along with half a dozen other pieces of furniture that I am selling at the same time. This couple of intellectuals furnished their home at La Boutique Danois (Avenue de Friedland, on the Champs Elysées) in the 1960s with exceptional Scandinavian furniture in which they lived their entire lives. More details on my blog: Lacoste estate. This bedside table, with its noble and proud stature, is a creation by designer Borge Mogensen, who made it in 1954 for the Swedish publisher Soborg Mobelfabrik. It still bears the label: SOBORG MOBLER (with the O's crossed out), Made in Denmark. Next to it, the logo of a drakar at the foot of a castle tower. This is undoubtedly a mark of quality, even exceptional quality. Made of solid teak, the bedside table rests on four rounded and slightly tapered legs that frame a lower teak shelf and a solid teak top. It opens with a drawer crafted to the millimetre, almost hidden within the piece. One certainly admires the quality of the wood, but especially the sharpness and purity of the curves, the majestic yet simple posture of the furniture. When design meets craftsmanship, artisanry flirts with art. This bedside table belonged to Mrs Lacoste-Dujardin and was located in her bedroom next to her bed. It is in its original patina, and apart from a few usual signs of wear, it is in excellent condition. An exceptional piece, with a double prestigious provenance. H: 54 cm. W: 45 cm. D: 32 cm. My prices are firm, thank you. Delivery possible in the Île-de-France for 40 euros.
