Dimensions with frame: 77 X 55.5 X 2 cm aluminum frame. Konstantin tereshkovitch, generally known as kostia tereshkovitch, was born near moscow. In 1920, he went to paris to study art at the académie de la grande chaumière. Welcomed by compatriots such as mikhail larionov and soutine, tereshkovitch settled in montparnasse, where his close friends included moïse kisling and andré lanskoy. Kostya tereshkovitch would eventually become the only montparnasse artist of the interwar paris school to maintain his own racing stable, a sign of his keen interest in sport and the life of luxury. Kostya tereshkovitch was a key member of the loose alliance of colorists known as la réalité poétique; others included roland oudot, maurice brianchon, andré planson, jules cavaillès, and roger limouse. His name is variously transliterated—sometimes constantin, sometimes tereschkovitch.
