A56 tolix chair, varnished raw steel with black leather cushion. The model a chair has become an icon of industrial aesthetics. Its unwavering popularity since 1934 has brought it into the collections of the vitra design museum, moma and the pompidou centre. This mythical seat in stamped sheet metal has imposed itself "by its unsuscitated solidity, its unrivalled lightness, its easy-to-keep cleanliness", advantages to which were added at the time "that of the reduced price".
