Pair of lamps by Gerard Taylor for Drimmer, 1981

This lamp was designed by Scottish designer Gerard Taylor for the French manufacturer Drimmer in 1981. At the time, Taylor was part of the Memphis Group, founded by Ettore Sottsass. It was limited to 200 pieces. The base is metal, the foot is earthenware, and the cylinder is glass. The manufacturer described it as follows: "This lamp is his first ceramic lamp and therefore represents a new experiment. His primary concern was to find a familiar image for the home while simultaneously disrupting and creating a fresh start through changes in scale and color.".
