Magnificent lamp made with a glass paste vase by Émile Gallé in Nancy (1846 – 1904). Art Nouveau period. Tapered on a pedestal, made of multilayer glass with elaborate decoration. Acid engravings with overlapping colours of blue clematis and foliage. Height: 27 cm. The visible Gallé signature corresponds to the manufacturing period between 1908-1920. Small imperfections (two translucent drips embedded in the glass), attributed to the uniqueness of the glass paste moulding and pouring technique. The shade is a curved pagoda, made by the Maison Clair de Jour in Paris. Dressed in blue-green silk satin from the Maison LANVIN, lined with silk muslin. Finished with twisted cotton braids in blue and black. Height: 27 cm. Exceptional rendering of colours and materials, for a total height of 54 cm. Born on 8 May 1846 in Nancy, Émile Gallé is a true genius of decorative arts. A pioneer of Art Nouveau, founder of the École de Nancy (1901), Gallé is both an artist and a Lorraine industrialist. Throughout the grand narrative of his life, Émile Gallé worked tirelessly in the service of creation, with the social ideal of making Art accessible to the greatest number. Gallé was deeply inspired by nature, and this was reflected in his creations. He often integrated floral and organic motifs into his works, capturing the beauty and elegance of nature in glass. His pieces were renowned for their exceptional artistic quality and meticulous execution.
