Mid-Century Teak Coffee Table with Woven Shelf from Randlev Møbelfabrik, Denmark, 1960s

This coffee table was manufactured by the Danish furniture maker Randlev Møbelfabrik during the 1960s. The piece is a characteristic example of Danish modernist design, combining a simple, functional construction with carefully crafted woodworking details. The table is crafted from teak wood and features an elongated rectangular tabletop with gently sculpted edges and subtly raised rims along the longer sides. The softly rounded corners give it a streamlined form characteristic of mid-20th-century Scandinavian furniture design. The tabletop rests on four slender, tapered legs. Beneath it is an additional shelf made from decorative woven rattan, set within a wooden frame. Its lightweight construction gives the table an elegant appearance while providing practical storage space for books and magazines. The table has undergone professional furniture restoration. The wooden surfaces were stripped of the old coating, then stained in an oak colour and protected with semi-matt lacquer. This finish enhances the natural grain of the teak wood and highlights the carefully crafted details of the construction. The original Randlev Møbelfabrik maker’s label has been preserved beneath the tabletop, confirming the Danish origin of the piece. With its harmonious proportions, decorative woven shelf and timeless design, the table is well suited to a living room or lounge area.
