Pair of "Havana" chairs by Gessef – Italian Design, 1960

This superb pair of chairs is the famous "Havana" model, produced in the 1960s by the Gessef factory for the Consorzio Sedie Friuli (Italy). A true link between Italian refinement and Scandinavian minimalism, the Havana model is distinguished by: • Its organic structure: Remarkable craftsmanship on solid wood (ash or light teak) with slightly curved rear legs that follow the line of the backrest. • Its "Paper Cord" seat: A typical Mid-Century design woven from paper cord, offering both robustness and comfort. • Its authenticity: Presence of the original Gessef / Consorzio Sedie Friuli label with serial number under the seat, guaranteeing its provenance from the Friuli region, then the world capital of excellence in chair design. Condition: Very good state of preservation. The wood's patina is warm and even. The cord is original, healthy, and still well tensioned. Partial restoration of the cord (small colour difference visible in the photos).
