Lunéville earthenware vase in shades of yellow and black.

Rare and magnificent large earthenware vase from the French manufacture of Saint Clément, featuring vertical black and yellow stripes. Shape 9037. Height: 29.5 cm. Diameter at the neck: 9.2 cm. Weight: 1037 g. The vase is signed underneath the base with an "S" and an intertwined "C" with a small "t" next to it to refer to "Saint," which is often written in French as "St." The signature "SC t" is accompanied below in uppercase letters by "FRANCE." The topology of this signature indicates a dating from the 1920s. The vase is in excellent condition (no cracks, chips, or impacts) but has a few small marks or minimal stains due to its century of existence! Carefully protected shipping! A bit of history: The Saint Clément pottery was created in 1758. Its neighbour, the Lunéville manufacture (Keller and Guerin), was founded in 1730. Both manufactures are among the most famous in the production of earthenware in the 18th and 19th centuries. The reason is simple: all the raw materials necessary for its production are already available on site (wood for the kilns, clay/kaolin for the paste). In 1892, the potteries of Keller and Gerin (Lunéville) and Saint Clément merged and then dominated the French market (the pottery notably worked with the greatest artists of the time such as Emile Gallé, Richard Micque, and Paul Louis Cyfflé).
