Beautiful Louis XV style armchair with carved dark-stained walnut, dating from the 18th century or a fine quality antique reproduction. The cabriolet backrest features a shaped outline topped with a carved hat of a blooming flower framed by scrolling foliage. The frame is adorned with rocaille motifs, acanthus leaves, and small flowers, visible on the apron and the uprights. The curved cabriole legs end in scrolls, characteristic of the Louis XV style. The seat and backrest are upholstered in petit point tapestry depicting rich floral compositions in yellow, sage green, dark green, and pale blue on an ivory background. The tapestry is secured with a row of brass-headed upholstery nails. Overall good condition. The wood shows a beautiful patina of age.
