"Freemont" library by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis Milano, 1985

Italian work (Memphis Milano), 1985. H 183 X W 190 X D 60 cm. Lacquered wood, gold leaf and laminate. Very good used condition. Furniture on five cylindrical legs, lower part closed in a console and upper part as an open bookshelf, red, white and black. Designed in 1985, the year Sottsass left the Memphis group to focus on his own agency, Sottsass Associati — one of the last pieces he designed for the movement he founded five years earlier. Marked Memphis hinges, some signs of wear under the doors consistent with actual use.
