Space Age Pod Sofa and Chairs

This is a three-piece seating set from the Space Age era, comprising a sofa and two matching lounge chairs. The set is defined by its sculptural, pod-like shells and contrasting vibrant upholstery, characteristic of the optimistic design language of the 1960s and 1970s. The chairs and sofa feature molded shells, likely fiberglass, finished in a beige Skai leatherette. These rest on slender metal bases. The seating is provided by removable cushions upholstered in a bright red, geometrically patterned textile. The sofa measures 180 cm in width, while the chairs are 85 cm wide. All pieces have a height of 75 cm, a depth of 66 cm, and a seat height of 41 cm. This set is presented in good, original vintage condition, reflecting its history and use over several decades. The materials have developed a character consistent with their age, while retaining the structural integrity and visual appeal of the original design. The original upholstery and shells are preserved. A complete lounge set of this nature serves as a significant focal point in a living room or reception area. Its distinctive aesthetic pairs well with minimalist, retro, or eclectic interiors, offering both a statement piece and functional, comfortable seating.
