Beautiful piece of French ceramic, most likely from the workshops of Vallauris, from the 1950s. Soup tureen / pot / covered jar. Simple and balanced shape, with well-defined round handles and a conical lid topped with a flared knob, typical of the design of this period. The metallic black glazing, with slightly iridescent reflections, gives the piece a strong, almost sculptural presence. An item that catches the eye without being over the top. The mark underneath the base is now illegible, but given the craftsmanship of the shape, the quality of the glazing, and the manufacturing characteristics, attribution to the Vallauris workshops is very likely. The interior shows evidence of artisanal production. Excellent condition. Dimensions: Height 23 cm. Width 28 cm with handles / 18 cm without. A piece that was originally utilitarian and is now perfectly suited as a decorative object in a rustic kitchen or a raw ambiance (Japandi, wabi-sabi, or even industrial style). Very careful packaging.
