A set of two original Result chairs, designed in 1958 by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld for Ahrend de Cirkel. The characteristic compass base of folded sheet steel is finished in the original grey lacquer; seat and backrest are of bent plywood with a warm, teak-coloured top layer. The back support bears the stamped mark ‘Ahrend Cirkel’. The Result is an icon of Dutch industrial design and one of the best-known school chairs of the post-war period. Honest, original set in the sought-after grey version, with factory stamp and never resprayed. The interplay of the sleek steel frame and the warm wood makes these chairs timeless. Beautiful as dining chairs or a desk chair in an industrial, mid-century or loft interior, but also in a Scandinavian or Japandi interior around a wooden table. Good condition, with signs of use consistent with age; original grey lacquer with wear, small lacquer chips and a few rust spots; seats and backs with scratches and signs of use, a more pronounced scuffed area on one seat and light wear to the front edge of one seat; no cracks visible in the wood; construction sturdy, caps under the legs present.
