Small living room piece in marquetry, Louis XVI style – early 20th century

This elegant little Louis XVI piece, made of rosewood and mahogany marquetry, captivates with the balance of its proportions and the delicacy of its decor. It is topped with a delicately veined pink and orange breccia marble, encircled by a groove. The front opens to a belt drawer, adorned with a rosewood inlay and a finely chiselled bronze pull ring in the shape of a laurel crown, an emblematic motif of the neoclassical style. Below this drawer, a wide central niche offers an elegant and practical space for display or storage. The lower part of the piece features a door decorated with an oval marquetry in light and tinted wood, depicting a delicately crafted flower vase, a true homage to the floral compositions prized at the time. This marquetry highlights the quality of the cabinetmaking and adds an extra touch of refinement. The uprights are enhanced at the top with beautiful bronze drops, bringing brilliance and verticality to the whole. The interior is exceptionally made of white Carrara marble. Finally, this small salon piece rests on tapered legs, giving it a slender and graceful silhouette.
