A rare cantilever armchair of the Anton Lorenz B36P type, dating from the 1930s and originating from Czechoslovakia. The chair features the characteristic cantilever construction of early tubular steel furniture, with a chrome tubular steel frame, sculpted wooden armrests, and a padded seat. The design belongs to the Bauhaus/functional tradition of tubular steel furniture. Anton Lorenz was an important figure in the early development and commercial production of tubular steel furniture. The chair retains its original orange upholstery, now ready for reupholstering. The existing textile shows age-related wear and fraying, while the chrome frame and wooden armrests display authentic signs of age and use.
