Very large and rare Provençal radassier for 4 people in solid walnut, an old rural work from the late 18th to early 19th century. Entirely handcrafted with traditional mortise and tenon joints, some reinforced with old nails. Numerous tool marks and irregularities in shaping reveal a pre-industrial work entirely done by hand. The frame shows a remarkable consistency in patina and construction: asymmetrical uprights, uncalibrated crosspieces, deep grain of the old walnut, and homogeneous natural wear. A large model with a very strong presence, much rarer than the small radassiers commonly found. The wood has simply been cleaned, then nourished and protected with a clear matte finish that fully respects the old patina and original appearance. Bedding in excellent condition. Structure is sound, stable, and very well preserved. Some very localized old traces of woodworm on lower elements of the frame, without structural impact. The whole remains remarkably sound and dense for furniture of this period.
