These two extraordinary vase lamps, newly assembled, have been repurposed from original French ceramic jugs from Vallauris. An unusual duo with a story: From a French bistro table to a handmade accent lamp. Vallauris, in the south of France, was one of the most important centres of European studio ceramics from the 1950s to the 1970s. Alongside artistic ceramics, distinctive everyday objects for bistros and restaurants were created there – including these small water jugs, traditionally placed on the table to dilute pastis. The shape is both charming and functional: A bulbous body, a sculpted spout, and a large contrasting handle on the side. The warm olive brown glaze with its fine crackle texture gives the objects depth and authenticity – a Mediterranean character from the 1970s with a distinctly French touch. The discovery of two objects from the series in different sizes makes the upcycling of the two vases into a pair of lamps particularly charming. The conversion into small lamps has been carried out with care to preserve the original objects: • no drilling. • no irreversible modifications. • the original collectible value is maintained. The lamp sockets are secured with an internal fastening system using caps and clips. The vases have been weighted for stability. The opening is closed with a high-quality brass plate, and the threaded rod is encased in brass. Wireless technology. No cumbersome cables - maximum freedom in room design. Upon request, both lamps, or just the larger one, can be converted to cord operation for an additional €25. The cord is then inserted directly into the socket, eliminating the need to damage the original jug. The two cylindrical lampshades from Roomlight Studio are covered in high-quality French fabric in a warm olive tone. The floral and graphic pattern in cream and natural tones reflects the Mediterranean origin of the ceramics and highlights its southern French character. The light is warm and atmospheric – ideal as accent lamps on a sideboard, console, or side table – or on the kitchen table.
