Oil on panel "The Caravans", 1945

Very touching oil on panel, painted in 1945 by a lovesick man for his future wife. The brushwork is quite free, synthetic, almost naive, post-impressionist. The subject: caravans, shacks, a hilly landscape. What I like: The composition is well-structured: diagonal of the path to the right, coloured masses in the foreground, high horizon. The palette is bold, with blues, greens, brick reds, and a simplification of forms. Overall in good condition. A true object of affection!.
