This early 20th-century Japanese woven bamboo Ikebana vase is a stunning example of craftsmanship from the Taisho and Showa periods. The vase features a long cylindrical neck and an elegant orb-shaped body tapering to a foot. It is made of lacquered woven bamboo braided around a white porcelain cylindrical insert. The bamboo is steamed and woven into plaited and looped designs, spiraling upwards with a rich reddish-brown color resembling leather. This piece is designed for ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and is a perfect addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Despite minor wear consistent with age, including five broken bamboo strands and some lacquer wear, the vase remains beautifully patinated and in good condition. Dimensions: Height 9.85 in (25 cm), Diameter 6.3 in (16 cm).
