Rustic armchair, a unique piece from the Regional Popular Art of Southern France (Provençal style). Handcrafted in a completely artisanal manner at the end of the 19th century. A unique regional design: The work on the backrest is particularly remarkable with its two side slats cut into sinuous curves (known as "in wave"). It is a superb rustic and simplified reinterpretation by local artisans of the flowing lines of the Louis XV style. Noble materials: Made from walnut wood (a preferred noble species in the South for family furniture), it features a beautiful grain and a warm hue acquired over the decades. A rare solid wood seat: Unlike the majority of Provençal chairs from this era that were straw-seated, this model has a solid wood seat made from thick, fitted planks. It is a strongly constructed piece, originally intended to last for several generations. Traditional assembly: The armchair is traditionally assembled with mortise and tenon joints, without any modern screws, which confirms its authenticity and age. Decor advice / Trend: This "as is" seat is the perfect accent piece for contemporary interiors. It will fit wonderfully into a Country Chic, Charming Brocante, or Wabi-Sabi (which values the beauty of timeworn objects) decor. Ideal as a characterful office chair, or placed as an ornamental piece in the corner of a bedroom or living room. Condition: The armchair is in good used condition with a beautiful original patina. It has simply been dusted and nourished with colourless beeswax to enhance the nuances of the walnut without altering its authenticity. The structure is stable and robust.
