A fine example of Danish modernist design, the Model 190 daybed incorporates Børge Mogensen's core principles: rational design, respect for natural materials, comfort, and functionality. Designed in the late 1950s and produced by Fredericia Stolefabrik, this daybed features a solid oak frame with a simple, clean construction—a hallmark of Mogensen's designs, which were largely influenced by the Shaker tradition. This version incorporates a sliding drawer—rare on the Model 190—beneath the frame, providing practical storage, which can be removed for a more minimalist look. The headrest and mattress have been completely reupholstered and reupholstered in ivory bouclé fabric, whose texture adds a slight relief and creates an elegant contrast with the oak tone. Patina of use, very good overall condition. Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a leading figure in post-war Danish design. Trained in cabinetmaking and architecture, he developed furniture suited to everyday life without compromising on aesthetics. His long collaboration with Fredericia, which began in 1955, resulted in some of the most iconic and enduring pieces of Danish modernism.
