Gargoulette or enameled earthenware water jug The whole is placed on a pedestal and enamelled yellow ochre. This container jugs family is typical of the Mediterranean regions and has the particularity to conserve fresh water, shaped in a porous material, clay, water moisten the outer surface through the pores of the clay. To evaporate, it uses energy by evacuating its own heat, while refreshing the gargoulette inside. The shape of the holes reminds undoubtedly sexed human attributes... It originated around 2500 years BC. The gargoulette was much represented in painting, by big names, Van Gogh, Matisse, Goya, Cézanne have painted them in their works, and yet few of us have noticed...
