The Gashghai or Qashqai are nomadic tribes that primarily live in the Fars province, particularly in the city of Shiraz in the southwest of Iran. "Kilim" is a Turkish word referring to the flat weaving technique (or tapestry). This method of rug making is different from that of knotted pile (velvet-like appearance), resulting in a softer and lighter finish.
