This kokeshi sosaku doll (creatine, as opposed to traditional kokeshis) measures 30.5 high and 10 cm diam head. It was designed by masayuki kaganuma - doll maker active between 1960-80. This doll has won awards, it is called "princess bamboo or red bamboo". The bright red kimono was cut in the imitation of bamboo, thin streaks evoke the hair. She has a rather shy face, long lashes on her eyes closed. (traces in the varnish on the headdress). A about kokeshis: they were toys for girls, or offered as a token of love or friendship; symbolized the desire to have a healthy child. They would have a talisman function, are modesty, softness.
