Pair of large danish ceramic table lamps, 1960s-70s. The lower part of the lamps is glazed in blue with ochre accents. The upper part is unglazed and shows the natural ochre colour of the clay. Model no. 3055, manufactured by søholm stentøj (soholm pottery) on the island of bornholm, denmark. Designed by einar johansen. Søholm stentøj, meaning soholm stoneware, was founded in 1835 by herman sonne wolffsen and edvard sonne. The name søholm comes from the factory where both founders were employed, a pottery near copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest working factory on bornholm, a danish island off the southern coast of sweden, until it closed in 1996. In the mid-20th century, søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in a variety of patterns and shapes. Several designers worked for søholm stentøj, including einar johansen, maria philippi, noomi backhausen and others. The lamps are signed with the manufacturer's mark and the initials "ej" for einar johansen. They come with new lampshades. New electrification. Diameter of the lampshade: 35 cm.
