Sauce boat “Stella” Sarreguemines

Superb gravy boat on frame of the “stella” model. It was produced by the lorraine earthenware factory utzschneider (u & c) in sarreguemines. Between 1875 and 1920. The white earthenware is decorated by blue monochrome transfer with realistic but very romantic floral motifs. The model name means star in latin. We may think that it was so named because the shape of the flowers often resembles that of stars. Like for example that of the large family asteraceae, whose name itself comes from the latin aster also meaning star. Different motifs were used for this model such as the cherry blossom branch, daisies, pansies… condition (see photos): very good condition. No chips or cracks. No signs of use. Please note: stains from use are present throughout the sauce boat.
