Of Belgian origin, Guido was born in Genoa in 1910 and died in the same city in 1992. He attended the Ligurian Academy of Fine Arts, but he profitably exploited the stimuli and suggestions he found in other artists of his time, such as the watercolorist Aldo Raimondi (1902-), born in Rome but Milanese by adoption and Genoese by association, particularly in Camogli. In 1930, he began his career in the world of figurative art, interrupted by the tragic events of the Ethiopian War, and then by World War II, in which he participated with dedication. However, even under these circumstances, he never renounced his vocation and his need to depict his surroundings, even the harsh reality of the conflict. In 1935, 1936, 1938, and 1941, he participated in the Promotrici di Belle Arti in Genoa and, in 1941, in the National Art Exhibition in Venice. In the 1970s, he joined the Artegiro group of painters, becoming one of its leading representatives and contributing to its organization for as long as the group remained active (late 1990s). In 2008, the Municipality of Genoa named a street near Brignole train station after him.
