Rare 19th-century gargoulette, from the artisanal production of Saint-Jean-de-Fos, in Hérault, in the south of France. A very beautiful piece of popular art with its traditional shape. Its enamel background is cream-colored, and its vertical bands are green and brown. The gargoulettes from Saint-Jean-de-Fos are remarkable for the quality of their glazing and the precision of their varnishing. It is in excellent condition. Its structure is perfectly sound, with no cracks. It shows a few minor enamel jumps, visible in the photos, which are signs of its authenticity and history. There are traces of time characteristic of old pottery. Once used to keep water cool, this gargoulette is now a prized piece for discerning collectors and lovers of antique pottery. It fits perfectly into a minimalist Mediterranean environment, particularly in the spirit of Minorcan houses: lime walls, arches and rounded lines, polished concrete floors, natural materials, and soft tones. In this type of minimalist decor, where a few carefully chosen pieces are enough to give character to the space, it will naturally find its place. The authenticity, patina, and history of this ceramic give it all its value.
