Additional information: This table comes from the furnishing of the café of the aero club located at the Dancourt-les-Conflans aerodrome (Seine-et-Oise, now Yvelines). Like many civil aviation-related facilities from the pre-war period, the site was destroyed during the Second World War in 1944. The furniture designed by Jean Prouvé in the late 1930s for public spaces (clubs, schools, administrations, sports facilities) is characterised by a structure made of folded and welded steel sheet, designed for robustness, mass production, and intensive use. Laminated or melamine tops emerged during this period for their durability and ease of maintenance. Documented original tables linked to specific orders (like here for an aero club) are particularly sought after in the design market.
