In this advertisement, you will find a beautiful vintage Turkmen Ersari rug. Traditionally hand-knotted by Afghan and Uzbek Turkmen in northern Afghanistan, as well as by Afghan refugees in neighbouring Pakistan. The dominant pattern is the "gul" (Persian for flower), an octagonal or star-shaped motif often referred to as the "elephant foot" pattern. These guls are arranged in symmetrical rows and repeated on a main field, characteristic of the Turcoman/Aqcha weaving style. Made in Afghanistan in the 1960s. The rug is in very good condition.
