Oval plate in glazed earthenware made by the Menelika Art Pottery in Geneva, around 1950. It features a dark brown glaze with a stylised bird decoration in shades of pink, pale yellow, and black. The motif, treated with great graphic freedom, is centred on the plate and surrounded by a border rhythmically adorned with pink and dark touches. Founded in Geneva in 1924 by Hélène Imbert-Amoudruz and Charles Imbert, Menelika Art Pottery contributed to the revival of Swiss ceramics during the interwar period and post-war era, with a production characterised by a naive, poetic, and very personal spirit. Switzerland, around 1950.
