Carved wooden horse – Folk Art

Beautiful wooden sculpture representing a horse in motion, entirely handmade in a folk art spirit. An old piece made of solid wood, with traditional assembly of the legs using dowels. The piece features a beautiful authentic patina, with partially worn old white polychromy revealing the wood underneath. Signs of use and natural aging (wear, chips, shrinkage cracks) attest to its antiquity. The animated posture, suggesting movement through a subtle imbalance of the body, gives the whole a lovely sense of life and expressiveness, characteristic of old decorative collectible objects. The modelling is both simple and expressive, typical of rural artisanal productions from the late 19th century. The mane and tail are finely striated, and the whole exudes a strong decorative presence.
