Lavoët hat trunk

Magnificent hat trunk signed lavoët from the beginning of the 20th century (circa 1910-1920), covered with brown coated canvas, surrounded by studded leather borders. This superb cubic box is fitted with an original leather handle. The stamp on the side testifies to an authentic lavoët, specifying that it comes from boulevard haussmann. In any case, it is a luxury trunk, coming from the workshops of bd hausmann, undoubtedly in the first years of the last century, in a period perhaps before the war, when the world discovered cultural creation and artistic of the new century, therefore a new art... A whole life which was not yet crazy but which still gives us the opportunity for such encounters today. Extremely rare, especially in such a beautiful state of conservation, this cubic trunk was intended to transport, but also protect ladies' hats. Its fittings, clasps and even its corners are reinforced. All of the lines attest to a high-class object. Opening it confirms the first impression. The colors, still vivid, of a beautifully marbled paper, offer a leap into the history of more than a century, to admire work of exceptional quality. We think we are back a hundred years ago, discovering a trunk that we wish to acquire, as the interior is like new. No nostalgia (although...), but rather an admiration for a craft which we are tempted to say is art, and an art which transcends time, despite the slightly obsolete purpose of the object that must have traveled and experienced many vicissitudes.
