Between 1973 and 1976, Pontus Varle studied engraving at the Goetz Academy in Paris and continued his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (lithography and painting). He spent a year in Sweden to refine his engraving and lithography technique (Forum, Malmö). He lived in New York from 1980 to 1989, where he began exhibiting from 1985 onwards. Since 1991, Pontus Carle has lived between Paris and Berlin. He regularly exhibits in Europe and the United States and is represented in numerous public and private collections.
