A beautiful “Soleil” chair designed by Janine Abraham & Dirk Jan Rol, manufactured in France in the 1950s. This expressive chair features a sculptural rattan frame with a comfortable white fabric seat cushion, which can be used by choice. The elegant, woven form and organic silhouette give the chair a wonderful sense of luxury, which combines nicely with the natural structure and colour of the rattan. This impressive chair won the gold medal at the 1958 World Exhibition in Brussels. During that period, a set of these chairs was commissioned for use in the palace and garden of Shah Pahlavi of Iran. A beautiful chair with a unique place in design history! The piece remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
