Coffee table ‘IN-50’ Isamu Noguchi from the 1980s with original glass. 1980s version by Herman Miller, unsigned at the time. This coffee table was Isamu Noguchi's (1904-1988) favourite creation, certainly because it shared many characteristics with his artistic work. He regarded the table as a useful sculpture. Designed in 1939 for the president of MoMA, he reworked the original sketches in 1944 to create a new organic structure. The base of the table consists of 2 identical pieces of solid wood, which can be arranged at right angles, and a thick glass top. Two identical pieces of curved black wood form the base, which has a beautiful patina. In good original condition with age-appropriate wear, moderate scratches on the glass and 2 small chips (see images). Black lacquer. Base height of 38 cm. Glass thickness of 19 mm.
