Signed by Georges Le Meilleur (1841-1945), this large etching, dated 1928, depicts the Abbey Church of Saint-Ouen in Rouen. This painter and engraver, originally from Rouen, settled in Paris at a young age, exhibited at the Salons, worked alongside Puvis de Chavannes, and found most of his inspiration in the landscapes of Normandy and the Île-de-France. In the foreground, the statue of Rollo, the Viking leader who founded the Duchy of Normandy, is visible. This statue can still be seen in the abbey's park. There are traces of damp stains at the top of the print and on the reverse. Sold unframed.
