Antique velvet wall tapestry depicting a lion and lioness scene

Superb antique velvet wall tapestry, dating from the 1920s–1940s, depicting a lion and lioness in an exotic landscape. A typical decorative piece in the colonial Art Deco style, framed by a bamboo motif characteristic of the period. Its generous size (196 × 130 cm) makes for a striking visual presence. The reverse side confirms that it was made on an old Jacquard loom. In good overall condition for its age: no holes, no tears, and the velvet is well preserved. There is light and normal wear, consistent with a textile piece that is nearly a century old.
