Solid oak farmhouse table with two-plank top

A fantastic opportunity to acquire an exceptional farmhouse table, made entirely from French oak from my own trees, which unfortunately felled in the 2009 storm. This table is absolutely stunning; the color achieved through the age and maturity of the oak is sublime. My husband made it using traditional methods. We wanted everything we love in a classic, well-made, rustic yet incredibly elegant and timeless farmhouse table: the center drawer, the fluted legs, and of course, that precious patina and irresistible charm that only a table like this offers. The farmhouse table has a deep, wide center drawer to accommodate placemats, napkins, and cutlery. Legroom is excellent thanks to the thinner apron that runs around the table. The top is made from just two very wide boards. I took inspiration for the patina from an 18th-century table I once owned. The patina is beautiful but more resistant than a waxed top of yesteryear, but there is no difference in the appearance of the table. I have managed to recreate exactly the same look, but with the advantage of using a varnish that will properly protect the top from stains and rings. I have built the patina around the waistband with waxes. You could call the table a hybrid for the 21st century! Every hole, dent, scratch, imperfection, I caused in Purley for aesthetic reasons, I have used 150 year old hand forged nails in some places, mainly on the top and legs, everything I have done has only added to the irresistible charm and beauty, the perfection of this table lies in the imperfections or vice versa! Length 220cm Width 92cm Height 75.5cm Floor to band 65.5cm Seats 10 people With the table as a gift we include a good sized live edge chopping board or cheese board or just for candles, 8 coasters and a pair of salad spoons all made from the offcuts from this table, all will be finished with 3 coats of Danish oil.
