Landscape with sheep accompanied by their shepherdess. Prairie de courbiac, or near port berteau (saintes) on the banks of the charente. He devoted a large part of his work to the charente coasts, thus establishing himself as a landscape painter of regionalist inspiration. He was very early influenced by the port berteau group. Auguin, corot, pradelles and courbet came together in 1862-1863 to paint landscapes of naturalistic inspiration in the open air, on the banks of the charente at bussac-sur-charente.
