Old mercury glass hanging lamp with brass fixture

Mercury glass hanging lamp with brass fixture from the 1930s. These types of lamps were mainly used to illuminate shop windows due to the high light output. The glass is covered with a thin layer of mercury and then painted gray. The mercury creates a mirror effect. The outside of the lamp is slightly damaged and weathered here and there, as can be seen in the photos. This gives the inside a beautiful patina in the mercury. The lamp can be hung from the cord by means of a brass eyelet with strain relief. This also determines the height of the lamp. This lamp has been cleaned and fitted with a new 140 cm long twisted black fabric cord. H 25 / w 21 / d 21.
