Set consisting of a tapered candlestick and a square bowl in solid bronze, in an expressive and textured brutalist style. Each of the two elements bears a hollow engraved inscription, in a scarified style: – "The share of the angels" (on the candlestick) – "Well-defined place" (on the bowl) The surface has been polished irregularly, which brings out certain browner areas. This deliberate effect develops a contrasting patina, evoking the wear of time while retaining a certain shine. Unsigned set, but strongly evocative of a French artisanal production of the 1980s, in the style of "Waiting for the Barbarians". ________________________________________ TECHNICAL DETAILS: • Designer: Unidentified • Maker: Unidentified, France • Period: Circa 1980 • Materials: Solid bronze • Finish: Golden brown patina, partial polishing, scarified style intaglio engraving ________________________________________ DIMENSIONS: • Candlestick – Height: 20 cm (7.87 in) – Base diameter: 5 cm (1.97 in) • Bowl – Height: 1 cm (0.39 in) – Width: 13.5 cm (5.31 in) – Depth: 13.5 cm (5.31 in) • Total weight: 1.65 kg ________________________________________ CONDITION: Very good overall condition.
