1960's Space Age Table Lamp by Stepan Tabera

The shape and color of this table lamp is instantly recognisable as a 1960s design classic in czech. It was designed by stepan tabera and produced by opp jihlava in czechoslovakia. There were different versions and this particular one is known as type 377. This lamp is a bold statement piece. A very high level of craftsmanship was required to make the bulbous shape, which consists of two handblown layers of a glass - a white layer inside and pillar box red on the outside. There is a rim of orange plastic that forms the base of the lamp and works brilliantly with the bright red. This piece is truly a combination of a great space age design and craft. It fully demonstrates a great skills and tradition of czech glass/lighting design whilst serching for new forms. The lamp is in perfect vintage condition. There are no cracks, chips or any other damage on the glass. The cable shows some minimal natural wear according to its age. All parts are original and fully functional.
