Very nice copy in early 20th century reproduction of a map/map/view based on an original test of j c. Visscher. Lutetia parisiorum urbs, toto orbe celeberrima notissimaque caput regni franciae [mapping document] / c. Visscher excudebat anno 1618. Top and left, weapons of the kingdoms and the city of paris. Bottom and left, in an ornamental cartridge: ceste city is another world in a flourishing world, in peoples and powerful goods that of all things abounds. In the margins: at the bottom, reference of the figures of the plan; left male costumes, right female costumes: the roy... La reyne de france, gentilhomme... Nice woman from paris, bourgeois... Bourgeois woman from paris... The cartographer tends to tilt much more the horizontal plane of the ground, to make appear the horizon of distant hills and the sky. The seine is no longer vertical, but slightly diagonal. With this presentation trick, the great monuments of power, the louvre, notre-dame or the hôtel-de-ville, now appear three-quarters (and no longer face as in the 16th century) The card was under glass so it's in good condition. Beautiful quality of thick paper. It will be sent under a rigid cylinder. I try to describe in all the best and honesty the peculiarities (negative or positive) of this object, however do not hesitate to contact me if you wish for further clarification or photos that I could have oised; I would be happy to respond as soon as possible.
