Large and heavy oval serving platter with a scalloped edge in antique earthenware (19th century), entirely hand-painted. It features a rich polychrome floral decoration in Grand Feu, inspired by traditional productions from the South of France (Moustiers or Marseille), characterized by a central bouquet and finely distributed floral and foliage motifs on the rim and border (notably a central rose and blue borders). The elegant poly-lobed shape recalls Louis XV silverware models. Condition: • Overall good condition for its age: Very nice shine of the original glaze and bright colors. • Note for transparency (signs of time): Presence of old enamel skips on the edge (visible on the upper border) revealing the earthenware, as well as an area of wear and a lack of enamel on the back related to the placement and supports for firing in period kilns (traces of supports). No major through cracks. A beautiful authentic object for collectors. Characteristics: • Period: 19th century (or earlier) • Style: Traditional Moustiers / Marseille. • Technique: Stanniferous earthenware, hand-painted decoration. • Shape: Scalloped oval.
